SEO tools: the list of 55 free SEO tools

What are SEO Tools

SEO Tools are applications that an SEO expert uses on a daily basis, to optimize websites.

Some of these SEO tools are free, some are paid, some provide a snapshot of the current state of optimizing a website according to the rules dictated by search engines, and some give help on how to take action to improve optimization.

I understand that SEO is a complicated subject, especially for those in other fields, but if your website is not getting traffic, it is important to understand what to do to improve the situation.

A website that does not receive traffic, it is as if it does not exist and therefore, checking if your website is optimized for search engines is important.

I decided to gather in this post and share, a fairly comprehensive list, of all the tools of my personal and daily use.

It does not mean that I use them all, many do the same things and everyone is free to choose the SEO tool that best suits their needs, but it is important to know that they exist so that you can use them when the opportunity arises.

Some of these SEO tools are paid, some are free, and some give the opportunity to be tried for a certain period of time before purchase or have some free and some premium features.

Of course, some of them are for everyday use, I’m thinking of Search Console or Google Analytics, in short I present the list of the main SEO tools found on the web.

Search Console

(Tool suite – Diagnostics)

Search Console, formerly Google’s Webmaster Tools is such a special tool that it deserves its own category. This collection of utilities allows us to do a wide variety of things, we list the main ones:

  • Send information that facilitates indexing (crawl / sitemap / add-head sitemap)
  • Check of HTML (appearance in search / HTML improvements)
  • List of links pointing back to your site (search traffic / links pointing back to your site)
  • Analysis of search traffic across different search parameters (search traffic / search analysis)
  • Request for URL removal (Google index / URL removal)
  • Check to see if your site is optimized for any device, including mobile devices) (search traffic / usability on mobile devices)

And much, much more. It is also the tool by which Google interacts with us.

By enabling email notification (click on top-right scroll wheel / Search Console preferences / enable email notification) we will receive an email every time Google detects a problem on the website.

Some have referred to Search Console as the “Swiss Army knife of SEO,” it still remains an indispensable tool.

Note that in order to take advantage of this powerful SEO tool you must be an owner or administrator of the site to be analyzed.

For a more in-depth discussion you can read my guide to using Google Search Console.
